Women in Power: Caterina and Maria de’ Medici: The return to Florence of two Queens of France (2008 – 2009).

A special edition of the Doctor Bag – an iconic Il Bisonte bag – accompanies the visit to the exhibition ‘Women in Power: Caterina and Maria de’ Medici: The return to Florence of two Queens of France’ (October 2008 – January 2009).

Made of woven carpet, with chenille flowers and hazel-colored cowhide finishes, the bag is a direct reference to the magnificent tapestries made for Catherine. The mythological tale woven into the fabric, depicts the Queen of France as a sorrowful warrior who, having remained a widow, claims the right to rule in her sons’ name.

Inside the bag – together with in-depth riddles and cards – there are costumes for acting out short scenes, written for the occasion by Roberto Piumini, one of the most talented Italian children’s authors.
