Painting Light: The Hidden Techniques of Monet, Renoir and Van Gogh (2008).
The Impressionists were used to paint en plein air, outdoors. The spirit of their days, spent interacting with the movements of the sun, the changing colors of the sky, and the rustling of the trees, comes alive again in the picnic basket, created for the exhibition ‘Painting Light: The Hidden Techniques of Monet, Renoir and Van Gogh’ (July – September 2008).
Inside the wicker basket, lined with striped ‘deck’ canvas and finished in colored cowhide, there is everything you need to retrace their steps, identify original sketches and revisions, discover the tools. And, thanks to a special scent created by Lorenzo Villoresi, it is even possible to imagine the aromas of their favorite places.
