A VILLAGE AS A ROAD AND A DREAM— ZELENI CRUCHI #2

  3. A VILLAGE AS A ROAD…
www.gvix.org/greenroad. Europe is turning toward Ukraine to help its refugees. It does so with a network of eco-villages. Here, it’s not just people being cared for.

Winter is over. It’s ending. Not everywhere. There are winters that don’t follow the seasons, ones that extend beyond national borders. When will winter end for the Ukrainian people?
In Zeleni Cruchi (Green Hills), Tepla Gora (Warm Mountains), Zhyva Kahta (House of Life) – and in other Ukrainian eco-villages whose name we don’t know the meaning of – some refugees are rebuilding their present life. Rebuilding even the ecological life of the hills, mountains, and old country houses where you can go and live.

«OUTSIDE THE WAR ZONE.»

At Zeleni Cruchi permaculture is practiced. Experiments are made using the earth, the same earth that surrounds us according to a diagram of cosmic harmony. Everything that is harvested, every handcrafted, educational or healing activity must have the right space in the landscape.
It’s a battered landscape, but one that is furrowed by roads of hope today. From Green Roads. That’s the name of the European network of eco-villages providing relief to the Ukrainian people. They exchange food, skills and volunteers. The goal is to make each Zeleni Cruchi a stop on the road of rebirth.

«THERE IS SOMETHING WE CAN DO.»

It’s here then that energy autonomy – which these community projects pursue – corresponds, one might say, to ethical autonomy. It’s a curious concept, as such, that a country being invaded would adopt green building.
There is something perfectly generous, however, about hosting those in need, and changing their lives to do so. And sharing your own sustainability dream together. When this war is over, we will need to dream. It will be easier to do this in a network of eco-villages
