Pontormo and Rosso Fiorentino. Diverging Paths of Mannerism (2014)
Two bags in gray and burgundy velvet with finishes in bronze cowhide accompany the exhibition ‘Pontormo and Rosso Fiorentino. Diverging Paths of Mannerism’ (March – July 2014).
The colors of the bags are iridescent, paying homage to the daring colors used by both painters.
Both born in 1494 and pupils of the same masters, Pontormo and Rosso – though often grouped together for their eccentric and extravagant stylistic choices – interpreted the spirit of their time in surprisingly different manners. In the bags, there are a lot of educational tools to measure the distance that separates them.
