September 23, on the occasion of Milan Fashion Week, Il Bisonte, the Florentine brand specializing in high-end leather goods, is organizing an evening event at its boutique in 14 Via Santo Spirito in appreciation of handmade workmanship and the beauty of sustainability.
Alongside the timeless classics in the Heritage collection, the stars of the evening will be the vegetable-tanned leather products in the SS24 collection, featuring a Capsule Collection and five new lines of bags and accessories named after just as many little-known (and definitely to be discovered) museums in Florence.
Making the event even more special is the artist Elena Carozzi’s installations “Banano,” “Velluto in polvere d’oro,” “Bosco,” and “Giardino botanico,” four large tapestries hand-painted on precious fabrics and paper which, starting September 19 until October 19, will transform the walls of the boutique into windows thrown open to unexpected interpretations of the plant world.
“We are delighted with this collaboration,” explains Luigi Ceccon, CEO of Il Bisonte, “not only because Elena’s works reminds us of our love for nature, our commitment to sustainability and our vegetable-tanning techniques that use tannin extracted from tree bark, but also because there is a profound consonance between the exquisitely artisanal way the artist creates her hand-painted tapestries and the savoir-faire of our master leatherworkers, who are authentic custodians of ancient traditions that never cease to amaze us with their relevancy.”
SS24 Collection / The Capsule Collection
The Capsule Collection consisting of the Manhattan and Malibù lines.
Inspired by the continuity between private and work life that characterizes a typical New York lifestyle, the Manhattan line offers three models that boast unique style and top quality, designed to serve as new archetypes to carry out their functions. The line consists of three special pieces (a briefcase, a clutch and a bag) each with its own specific features that complement the others. Functional, linear and timeless, La Cartella is a true new classic for work, a must-have for professional use. Embellished and defined by an integrated handle that makes it both unique and recognizable, La Busta redefines the concept of a small briefcase. In perfect style coherence with La Cartella and La Busta, La Borsa completes the line with a sculptural design framed by essential lines.
Made of the highest quality vegetable-tanned leather, all three models can be either carried or worn over the shoulder.
Malibù
The lightweight Malibù bag, on the other hand, recalls the free and relaxed spirit of the legendary West Coast, with its vaguely hippy style and rigorously handcrafted workmanship. Available in two sizes and a wide range of colors, Malibù is made exclusively with vegetable-tanned leather, without using chrome or other substances that might harm the planet and its people.
The SS24 Capsule Collection also includes a new version of the bestselling Sguardo line – a vintage leather shopper – illustrating absolute minimalism at its best.
SS24 Collection / 5 new lines
The new handbags and accessories for men and women preserve the timeless beauty, casual elegance and absolute versatility that have always been hallmarks of Il Bisonte’s style, and distinguishes them with essential shapes elicited by the unique qualities of its vegetable-tanned leather.
On offer for women:
• the Bellini line, made up of four bags (a shoulder bag, an handbag and two bucket bags) characterized by a drawstring closure, with folds of soft leather taking shape around it;
• the Bigallo line, consisting of a wallet, card case and mobile phone holder (wearable crossbody and available with either a leather strap or brass chain), two pouches and a two-tone belt, all with a structured design resulting from careful craftsmanship;
• the Marini line, with two shoulder bags, a bucket bag and a tote in organic linen and cotton canvas with leather trim, which reinterpret some of the brand’s most beloved designs;
• the Novecento line, made up of three bags in leather featuring the classic Il Bisonte “baccellino” shape offered with a contemporary twist.
Instead for men there is the Galileo line which includes a travel bag, a briefcase, a cell phone holder with shoulder strap and three small leather accessories, all featuring soft lines that enhance the naturalness and beauty of vintage leather.
NEW COLORS AND NEW LEATHER
Grapefruit, Pistachio and Caffè Latte: the new delicate shades in the SS24 Collection. The first two call to mind nature and are inspired by the colors of the flowers and plants found in Orti Dipinti, the community garden in the center of Florence that Il Bisonte supports and helps to grow every day. Caffè Latte perfectly complements the brand’s classic colors, like natural and sepia, which – thanks to the tannin in the vegetable-tanning process – change day after day, all the while maintaining their beauty and uniqueness.
Alongside the traditional vegetable tanning, the SS24 collection also features a new nappa leather (full-grain, vegetable-tanned), notable for its amazing softness and beautifully natural grain.
ELENA CAROZZI
Born in Milan in 1967, Elena Carozzi lives and works in Sarzana. Striking a perfect balance between painting and decoration, her research experience is constantly evolving and goes beyond the classic definitions of artistic languages. Through a careful choice of traditional materials and techniques her work always maintains a vital relationship with the natural element.
Direct heirs to the ancient tradition of tapestries, her hand-painted versions create an evocative continuity between painting and nature, and immerse the viewer in an imaginative, life-sized world which calls to mind post-impressionist French painting.
