  4. HANDCRAFTED ELEGANCE: FABIO ATTANASIO FOR…

On the occasion of the launch of the FW 19/20 collection Il Bisonte presents the first fruits of its collaboration with Fabio Attanasio, a young, popular Italian influencer who is passionate about exceptional craftsmanship and bespoke tailoring.

As a tribute to Il Bisonte’s extraordinary manufacturing chain, Attanasio designed a backpack, briefcase and laptop case inspired by the shared passion for quality raw materials and the excellence of Italian know-how.

Made of khaki-green cotton canvas with details in dark brown vintage cowhide leather, all three models recall the sartorial tradition of Attanasio’s birthplace, Naples. The cowhide flap on the front of the briefcase calls to mind the “pignata” which is the typical tailored pocket featured on Neapolitan clothing; the folds on the backpack side pocket are inspired by a typical Neapolitan armhole called “mappina” (or “rag” in dialect) which is created by attaching a sleeve that is wider than the armhole. Consistent with Il Bisonte’s philosophy, Attanasio’s creations combine beauty and functionality: the briefcase features straps to hold a newspaper or umbrella; the padded PC case has an external leather pocket for easy cable storage.

The collaboration also includes a new sunglasses style which is a real tribute to Made-in-Italy excellence: the frames are entirely handmade using unique raw materials such as acetate from Mazzucchelli Varese, world leader in the sector; the hinges are affixed by hand; the eyeglass lanyards – customizable with one’s initials – are made from cowhide, the iconic leather that has always characterized the brand’s creations. Eyewear labeled “TBD X Il Bisonte” will be available starting from April at Il Bisonte boutiques and in a few selected stores. For more info about Fabio Attanasio, see his blog The Bespoke Dudes
