A new capsule collection designed by Shawn Henderson for Il Bisonte debuts at the Fuorisalone 2024.
On April 16, during Milan Design Week, Il Bisonte will present a new capsule collection by New York-based interior designer Shawn Henderson. Regularly shortlisted in international architecture magazines, Mr. Henderson was most recently recognized and included in Architectural Digest’s 2024 AD100 and Elle Decor’s A List.
Building upon the global debut of “There’s A Home for Everything” at Fuorisalone 2023, Mr Henderson and Il Bisonte are delighted to launch an expanded collection of leather homewares aptly titled The Keepsake Box.
Inspired by the symbiosis of beauty and utility found in Bauhaus, and especially Wilhelm Wagenfeld’s design objects, The Keepsake Box collection is a sophisticated combination of variously-sized boxes inspired by a desire to create a truly special place for the objects we hold most dear.
“In continuing my collaboration with Il Bisonte,” Shawn Henderson explains, “I was curious about exploring the relationship between personal and public, which we experience every day in New York City. There’s something romantic about the thought that what’s special to you may be different from what’s special to me. A keepsake for you might be rocks and foraged curiosities, but it could be rare books and photographs for someone else. One thing we all want is a beautiful place to store our special things. I wanted to create a collection of crafted leather forms that allow you to store and keep the important things to you, reinforcing that ‘There’s A Home For Everything.”
The Keepsake Box collection is 100% made in Tuscany; all components are handmade by the extraordinary artisans in Il Bisonte’s 30-Km supply chain using wooden frames covered in vegetable-tanned leather, available in natural, navy blue and black.
“The Keepsake Box, our new capsule collection,” explains Hideo Shiomoto, Il Bisonte’s managing director, “gives shape to the idea of product quality and the beauty of timeless design which has always been the brand’s most authentic feature in its bags, accessories and homeware”. Confirming the designer’s perfect consonance with the brand is also the decision to use only and exclusively Il Bisonte’s most iconic of leathers, vegetable-tanned through traditional methods that have utilized tannin for millennia to achieve both extraordinary softness and an unmistakable forest scent.
The stage for the capsule collection’s debut is the brand’s historic Milan flagship store on Via Santo Spirito (Cocktail Party April 16, 6-10 PM, on invitation only). Products will be available online at ilbisonte.com and in the New York boutique at 381 Bleecker Street as well as select retailers.
Il Bisonte Home
The collection designed by Shawn Henderson is the jewel in the crown of Il Bisonte’s Home line, which also brings the brand’s unmistakable high-end leather goods style into the home. Available in natural, caramel, coffee and black, all Home products are made of vegetable-tanned leather and ultra-soft suede, handcrafted with the utmost attention to every detail.
Among the collection’s most iconic pieces are a magnificent travel backgammon and checkers set in leather and suede, which can be conveniently wrapped up and which includes a zippered pocket for storing the leather game pieces, as well as an exquisite basket that comes in two sizes, the larger of which is perfect as a magazine holder.
Starting from April 16 and for the entire duration of the Salone del Mobile, the line of home accessories will be available in the Il Bisonte Flagship Store on Via Santo Spirito in Milan, which will also host the preview presentation of the new products in the Home FW24/25 collection.
