New York, May 20th, 2025 – Design, creativity, and craft: in the occasion of the New York Design Week, IL BISONTE store in the West Village will host a special event to unveil the brand’s new Home Collection, including the Dama by FeFo, a one-of-a-kind checkers set created in collaboration with the ceramic artist Fernando Aciar (FeFo).  Friends of the brand will join at IL BISONTE store (381 Bleecker Street), to discover the new pieces surrounded with a thoughtfully curated aperitivo by FeFo himself, a reflection of the same artistic and culinary inspiration that defines his studio practice.

Il Bisonte Home Collection:  timeless beauty, responsibly manufactured

The undisputed star of the Il BISONTE Home Collection is vegetable-tanned leather, the brand’s signature material since 1970.
Among the most anticipated new items are:
  • an elegant cubic pouf inspired by modernist design and entirely crafted from vintage leather;
  • two jewelry containers made of vegetable-tanned leather shaped on wooden shells, with suede-lined base and interior;
  • a valet tray made of vegetable-tanned leather, with a suede-covered resting surface and corners secured with hand-stitched loops;
  • a tissue dispenser made of structured vegetable-tanned leather.

“We are thrilled to present the new Home Collection on the occasion of Il Bisonte’s 55th anniversary and to do it during the New York Design Week,”
explains Hideo Shiomoto, IL BISONTE’s Managing Director,
“because it has always been a privileged meeting point between Italian craftsmanship and design enthusiasts from all over the world. The new products draw inspiration from the brand’s most authentic heritage and showcase the extraordinary talent of the master artisans who handcraft all our bags and accessories in the province of Florence, Italy.”

DAMA by Fefo: a creative dialogue in craft

In this exclusive collaboration, IL BISONTE’s legacy of Florentine leather craftsmanship meets FeFo’s food-inspired ceramics in a playful reinterpretation of the classic game of checkers. Each Dama by FeFo set features a leather board, meticulously handcrafted in Florence by a single artisan, and ceramic pieces shaped and glazed by the artist in New York.
 “For this collaboration with IIL BISONTE, I wanted to bring a playful twist to their classic leather goods by combining them with elements from my food-inspired ceramic work,” says Aciar. “The result is a unique blend of craftsmanship and creativity that reflects both of our worlds.”
Designed as a menu of Italian flavors, the ceramic checkers pieces offer a whimsical nod to traditional dishes, including Taleggio & Polenta, Burrata & Oliva, Ricotta & Basilico, Pomodoro & Burrata, and Pannacotta & Ciliegie, an edible homage, reimagined in clay and leather. “I always admired the craft work IL BISONTE has done over the past five decades,” Aciar continues. “My philosophy of work resonates deeply with theirs. As a designer and craftsman, preserving artisan techniques — and resisting the pull of the corporate market — is at the core of my studio. Il Bisonte has managed to preserve those traditions with sensibility, inspiring makers like me.”
