From Guttuso to Fontana and Schifano (2018)
Inspired by the famous “cuts” by Lucio Fontana, the white leather bag with black shoulder straps was created by Il Bisonte for the exhibition ‘Dawn of a Nation: From Guttuso to Fontana and Schifano’ (March – September 2018).
The exposition brings together 80 masterpieces from artists such as Renato Guttuso, Alberto Burri, Emilio Vedova, Enrico Castellani, Piero Manzoni, Maria Schifano, Mario Merz, Giulio Paolini and Michelangelo Pistoletto, constructing an extraordinary journey through Italian art, politics, and society from the 1950s through 1968. Decades full of social, political, and cultural tension began immediately after the war and culminated in student and worker protests.
During the same years and with the same spirit, Wanny Di Filippo began creating his bags, true manifestations of new aspiration towards freedom.
