The Sound Of Trees

  4. The Sound Of Trees

If the Val di Fiemme woods played in unison one day, it would not be a concert so much as a racket of first violins. In fact, the soundboards of the best instruments in the world come from its spruces, as Stradivari, the great luthier, has shown.

The wood fibers of other, more modest trees do not resonate, but sing instead thanks to the voices that gather at their roots: oak trees with their welcoming foliage. Each city needs its own oak forest.
