The Springtime of the Renaissance: Sculpture and the Arts in Florence 1400 -1460 (2013).

The sculptor’s knapsack is a chestnut colored handbag in a vintage-style cowhide created for the exhibition ‘The Springtime of the Renaissance: Sculpture and the Arts in Florence 1400 -1460’ (March – August 2013).

Similar to sculpture, the bag was purposefully designed to be experienced not only with sight, but also with touch. A scarf hidden inside the bag allows visitors to bandage their eyes and then caress the outside, made of two very different materials (a vegetable-greased cowhide and a suede leather). This sensorial approach is a perfect introduction to discovering the masterpieces of sculpture, which in museums can be “embraced” only with the eyes.
