Following a preview in Milan at the Salone del Mobile, high-end leather goods brand Il Bisonte will present for the first time in the U.S. its new capsule design collection featuring precious leather homeware by interior designer Shawn Henderson. The debut will take center stage in Il Bisonte’s New York boutique, at 381 Bleecker Street.
Throughout the past 20 years, Henderson continues to be regularly featured as one of the most beloved designers on shortlists from renowned international design and architectural publications and institutions. Henderson applies his signature approach to serene and sophisticated interiors to this new homeware collaboration with Il Bisonte.
The collection is called There’s a Home for Everything and was born out of a desire to simplify everyday life by creating a special and comfortable place for each object. “I wanted to design a series of trays that were both simple and elegant” explains Shawn Henderson: “organization is extremely important to me. These trays offer dual functionality – they look beautiful while providing a home for your belongings.” Like all of Henderson’s projects, the design of this capsule collection is considered, layered, and reimagines the past to create a new idea of the present: on this occasion, Henderson draws inspiration from the iconic French designer Jacques Adnet’s (1900-1984) leather-covered furniture and accessories.
The containers featured in the There’s a Home for Everything collection are made from leather- covered wooden frames handcrafted by local carpenters.
“These creations,” explains Luigi Ceccon, managing director of Il Bisonte, “give shape to the idea of everyday luxury, timeless beauty, and a reinterpretation of the past with an eye towards the future, which has always been our brand’s most authentic feature in its bags and accessories.” The striking harmony between designer and brand is highlighted by their choice to exclusively utilize Il Bisonte‘s most iconic leathers, vegetable-tanned with tannin using traditional methods for millennia to achieve extraordinary softness and an unmistakable woodland scent.
The capsule collection There’s a Home for Everything comes in three colors.” I started with black. For me, it’s true neutral that is timeless and versatile. I added a lighter shade, Il Bisonte’s Natural, which patinas beautifully over time. The third colourway is a deep blue. It rounds out the collection and is a go-to for my interiors” Henderson explains.
Alongside the capsule collection by Shawn Henderson, the Bleeker Street boutique will feature the world premiere of Il Bisonte‘s Home&Office collection, which brings the brand’s unmistakable style to the interior design of homes and home offices. Handcrafted with extraordinary attention to every detail, all items are made from our iconic vegetable-tanned leather and lined with the softest suede.
