From up high you can see tufts of green that are just a little bit sparse. Let’s zoom in. We are up high looking down as if from a drone, and below there’s a reddish, oval area. With squared splashes of color, like student desks lined up in front of an invisible teacher’s desk. And right smack in the middle there’s thick foliage, as if someone in the classroom had accidentally opened an umbrella. All the rest of the space is drenched in sunlight which has faded the white lines drawn on the ground. But on the upper edge of what appears to be an athletics track you can still clearly make out the oblong letters that spell out: “In Green We Trust”.
«In Green We Trust»
So, where are we? Who can say. It’s not obvious from up here. It’ll still be a few more days before we go down to find out, on June 15th. Of course buildings already surround it, so the garden in this old athletics track qualifies as an urban park. These buildings wouldn’t have encroached into the green space had there been more room. A reflection can be seen in their windows, though. The dome of Santa Maria del Fiore.
In the center of Florence
Mid-June, Il Bisonte’s bags will be on display in Florence in plein air. Indeed, right among those patches of green which are actually flower beds. In the only urban garden in the whole world situated within a UNESCO site. In Florence, of course.
