IL BISONTE FOR #ASVOFF, #1

  4. IL BISONTE FOR #ASVOFF, #1
Il Bisonte is sponsoring A Shaded View on Fashion Film, the major fashion film festival based in Paris where Il Bisonte has a home. Two boutiques. On rue du Cherche-Midi. And in the Galerie Véro-Dodat. We’ll tell you about last year’s winners in three posts. While looking forward to hearing about the new ones comping up on November 12. Let’s start with Infinite, by Hunter & Grassi.

The deadline has passed for film festival submissions. ‘Venice’ has been over for months. ‘Berlin’ will be over in February. But in Paris judges are hard at work. From November 9-12, the world’s most important festival will be held there. What genre? Fashion Film. And the title?
A Shaded View on Fashion is Diane Pernet’s blog that she’s been writing since 2005. Three years later she added a word. Today she’s known to all as the founder of #ASVOFF. A Shaded View on Fashion Film. A festival imprinted with her own vision. A nuanced vision, shaded through:

DIANE PERNET’S NUANCED VISION

«Actions of Responsibility.» «Unlocking the potential of AI.» «Climate warriors.» «Queer archives.» «Artistic research.» «Films made by children.» «Digital Fashion.» These are the keywords for this year’s event, now in its 15th exuberant edition.
Il Bisonte is sponsoring #ASVOFF15. It does so because it shares Diane’s nuanced vision. And perhaps because the brand with its two Parisian boutiques, reflects the creative force of these nominated filmmakers. To explain further we’ll tell you about three films here in the Journal.

INFINITE BY HUNTER & GRASSI

No, we haven’t peeked at the new official selection. Rather the works by the 2022 winners, available on the festival’s website. The award for best editing went to Hunter & Gatti’s Infinite. A short «shamanic» dream, filmed in infrared in the desert.
The protagonists are designer Nick Fouquet and his creations. Elegant wide-brimmed hats, twirling in front of Infinite’s cameras. This is, then, where fashion and cinema might meet. How would IB’s hats meet cinema?
