  4. IL BISONTE PRESENTS ITS FW23…
On the occasion of the 103rd edition of Pitti, Il Bisonte launches its Fall Winter 2023 collection and presents its biannual Magazine, whose first issue is entirely dedicated to going behind the scenes to explore the new arrivals and the exquisite craftsmanship behind every product.
The FW23 season highlight is the Capsule Collection made up of the Snodo Line and two limited edition items (Modulo and Sguardo), which harmoniously blend a contemporary allure with absolute fidelity to the brand’s artisan tradition. It is created from high-quality raw materials (iconic cowhide leather), passionate attention to every detail and production processes that enhance artisanal talent while respecting the environment.

THE CAPSULE COLLECTION

The big news for the FW23 collection is the Capsule Collection which comprises the Snodo Line as well as two unique pieces, Modulo and Sguardo. These products are characterized by a free, independent style that goes beyond traditional design schemes without straying from Il Bisonte’s most authentic manufacturing tradition which focuses on following intuition to generate new shapes as well as new functions.
Used as both a structural and functional element, the knot makes the bags in the Snodo line uniquely distinct. Their design is a perfect balance between solidity and lightness. This line includes a tote, a medium-sized shoulder bag, a mini-crossbody and a small shoulder bag, all made of vintage vegetable-tanned cowhide leather and available in three colors.

Instead, the originality of the sepia-toned Sguardo bag is defined by the contrast between firm and soft shapes. Its design is inspired by Il Bisonte’s first creations – both in material and in vision – and shows, more than fifty years after their conception, a truly surprising freshness, richness and formal instinct.
In the Modulo bag, the spotlight focuses on the buckle and the variety of functions this simple accessory makes possible. Thanks to its double buckle, this minimalist bag with a flat shoulder strap can transform from a shoulder bag into a handbag in an instant. Borrowing from the essential aesthetics featured in styles from the Seventies, the Modulo’s nearly flat geometry is made of vegetable-tanned cowhide leather and comes in five colors.

“I am very fond of this Collection – explains Luigi Ceccon, CEO of Il Bisonte – because it’s particularly effective at expressing a very precise idea of sustainability, which doesn’t only concern the way we produce, but also the way we think up new products. Using functional features (the knot and the buckle) as stylistic elements and enhancing the natural texture of the leather means consciously choosing a responsible design, which rejects what is useless and it’s precisely from this rejection that we gain the ability to imagine, as a whole, beauty and sustainability, tradition and innovation.”

THE FW23 COLLECTION: A NEW TRIBUTE TO FLORENCE AND TUSCANY

Alongside the Capsule Collection, the FW23 Collection also includes a new line for men and five products for women, whose names are taken from Florentine theaters. In choosing to do so, Il Bisonte once again pays homage to its Tuscan heritage, a celebration reflected in the latest collections which feature names inspired by the streets, parks, villas and castles of this same area where all the brand’s products have been created.

WHAT’S NEW FOR MEN

Ease, durability and essential lines are what define the Cestello line for men, made from vintage cowhide leather combined with fabric trim and cotton canvas lining. Comfortable to carry and timeless in design, these bags express the idea of classic yet innovative daily luxury, just like what can be found at the small, homonymous avant-garde theater overlooking the Arno river, just a few steps from Il Bisonte’s Florence offices.

WHAT’S NEW FOR WOMEN

The Le Laudi line, made of vintage leather, has a casual, timeless style that trains its eye on the future while reinterpreting Il Bisonte’s echoes of the past and its most authentic stylistic tradition.
The Fiaba line – precious gems showcasing the brand’s quality craftsmanship – is made of vegetable tanned cowhide leather lined in cotton canvas and characterized by a special weaving process done entirely by hand.
The Maggio line, which takes its name from the most prestigious opera house in Florence, owes its smooth, elegant, semi-matte texture to bio-tanned cowhide leather, while the intrinsic characteristics of the leather are what define its clean, basic structured lines. Also noteworthy is the special magnetic closure which make the bags in this line particularly easy to use.
Perfect for younger customers as well, the Esperia Line in vegetable tanned cowhide leather is versatile and comfortable to carry, and features an essential design punctuated by double stitching that frames a curvy silhouette.
The Studio Line, named for an experimental theater in the Florence vicinity, is made up of a baguette in two different sizes, one to be worn over the shoulder whereas the other can be worn in two ways, over the shoulder or crossbody. Crafted in soft vegetable tanned cowhide leather and lined in cotton canvas, it comes in a vibrant color palette full of personality.

NATURE’S COLORS

Violet Iris, Pink Azalea, Cypress Green and Forest: the new colors featured in the FW23 Collection are all inspired by the flowers and plants found in Orti Dipinti, the community Garden in the center of Florence that Il Bisonte supports and helps develop every day.
The brand’s classic colors, like natural or sepia, are still center stage and have always been made from vegetable-tanned cowhide leather using tannin and other vegetable-based substances which make each bag unique and allow them to keep their beauty and quality intact while they age.

“Behind our stylistic choices – says Luigi Ceccon – is always who we are: a company deeply rooted in a land whose beauty never ceases to inspire us, a community of artisans who work leather like no one else in the world and a management team that is tenaciously committed to helping create a better future for people and the planet. Each of our bags is a manifesto of this commitment.” To find out more about Il Bisonte’s production philosophy and the ideas that helped shape the new collection, on the occasion of Pitti 103, the brand presents the first issue of its Magazine, dedicated entirely to looking behind the scenes of the collections.
