IL BISONTE FOR #ASVOFF, #2

  4. IL BISONTE FOR #ASVOFF, #2
Il Bisonte is sponsoring A Shaded View on Fashion Film, the major fashion film festival based in Paris where Il Bisonte has a home. We’ll tell you about last year’s winners in three posts. While looking forward to hearing about the new ones coming up on November 12. Let’s start with Ajarian Bride’s Treasure, by Irma de Flore.

Il Bisonte is sponsoring #ASVOFF15. The upcoming edition of the world’s largest fashion film festival. A Shaded View on Fashion Film. In Paris, where the brand has two boutiques. On rue du Cherche-Midi. And in the Galerie Véro-Dodat.

It’s something we say, right? the showcase of an event. Well, a look at the festival’s showcases throughout its history demonstrates its growing importance and the spread of its satellite venues. In Paris: the Pompidou and the Jeu de Paume. And in Bilbao: the Guggenheim.

DIANE PERNET DIRECTOR

It’s Diane Pernet who seems to be the radiation point for A Shaded View on Fashion Film. Designer in New York and blogger in Paris, few people know that Diane began her career in the fashion world with film. As a director. Of documentary films.

AJARIAN BRIDE’S TREASURE BY IRMA DE FLORE

Who knows what Diane’s memories are today, when considering the works of younger directors applying for a spot in her festival. Who knows what she saw behind Ajarian Bride’s Treasure by Irma Sharikadze, last year’s winner as best documentary.
Irma, aka Irma de Flore, is an artist who’s committed to recovering the precious legacy of traditional tapestries, for contemporary design, from her country, Georgia. That’s what her documentary is about. Filmed in green valleys. Colored by gorgeous embroideries.
But it doesn’t end there. Irma’s fashion house is collaborating with ancient silk suppliers in the Tbilisi region to produce high-quality sustainable clothing. Sound familiar? From Georgian valleys to Valdarno, home of IB – in films it’s a small step.
