Il Bisonte is sponsoring A Shaded View on Fashion Film, the major fashion film festival based in Paris where Il Bisonte has a home. Two boutiques. On rue du Cherche-Midi. And in the Galerie Véro-Dodat. We’ll tell you about last year’s winners in three posts. While looking forward to hearing about the new ones on November 12. We finish off with An Ode to Teenagehood, by Celia Arias.
Starting out in some American desert, the set of Infinite, award for best editing, then passing over the green Georgian valleys of Ajarian Bride’s Treasure, award for best documentary, our journey to visit last year’s winners of the ASVOFF festival continues.
And all without ever leaving Paris, home of Diane Pernet, mother of A Shaded View on Fashion Film. The other mother is the city. Only in Paris – rife with passages, a haven for artists and haute couture boutiques, like Il Bisonte’s two here – could the festival come to life.
DIANE AND PARIS, MOTHERS OF #ASVOFF
Paris, capital city. Shaken up, as it were, by a contemporary buzz in the fields of art, fashion and what unites them best: cinema. The passages are not traversed today by monocle-wearing bourgeois. But rather by young people. Smartphones in hand. Clear ideas.
AN ODE TO TEENAGEHOOD BY CELIA ARIAS
These are the teenagers portrayed and celebrated in An Ode to Teenagehood, winner of the ASVOFF Grand Prix last year. A work by Celia Arias who has masterfully filmed: the traumas, freedoms, and desires of the fashion stars of our time.
An Ode to Teenagehood shows: a small bedroom, a dressing table before the stage, high platform shoes that might cause you to fall without hurting yourself, fences between houses in the English suburbs where gossiping tongues wag and makeup covers social masks.
«Did you know that your eyes can see ten million shades of color?» Diane Pernet, mother of ASVOFF, knows this. Celia Arias, director of the 2022 winning film, knows this. Il Bisonte, which is funding the festival this year, knows it. You – readers, viewers – know it.
Il Bisonte is funding A Shaded View on Fashion Film 2023. It does so from its two Parisian boutiques, which reflect the buzz of the capital these days. It does so because it shares Diane’s shaded, nuanced vision. It does so, curious to know the winners.
