Florence on a cushion

  4. Florence on a cushion

In Florence only saints and artisans rest their feet on cushions. But the saints’ cushion is made of marble.

Near the end of via dei Lamberti, at the front corner of Orsanmichele, in the niche for Arte dei Linaioli e Rigattieri you find Donatello’s San Marco with a cushion at his feet.

The Renaissance began with statues commissioned from Florentine artisans. Those who wove linen had their luxury products chiseled by the best artists of the day.

Il Bisonte’s craftsmanship is today’s chapter in this history of Florentine art.
